I was searching for laptops and find most of them comes with Windows. I am not going to use Windows. If I buy a laptop that comes with Windows, am I paying for Windows too?

Depending on where you live, you may be able to delete windows and return any media for refund. It's been done in the UK and I think the US too.

    This will require persistence though.

That or you can buy a barebones, such as a Clevo/Sager system, or a Compal, or the new OCZ whitebook - those can all be purchased without an OS.

What OS are you going to install and use? If it's Linux then you can buy systems pre-installed with Ubuntu from System76.

Since the norm is to ship with Windows, don't be surprised if a given laptop costs more without Windows. No OS would put it in a 'special order' category.
