What drawing programs do you find the best for creating images and editing photos etc. (e.g. Photoshop, Painshop Pro, Microsoft Paint etc)

My favourite is Paint Shop Pro, I used it to make my new signature :p

I think 95% percent of this is going to be whatever the person got used to. Personally I used to use Paint Shop Pro because it was affordable. And for a while it was good. Now I've gotten used to Photoshop at work and doing anything but basic tasks on Paint Shop Pro is painful.

So my program of choice is Photoshop. Irfanview is fantastic for batch processing. Paint Shop Pro does alright for quick tasks (and where I haven't plucked down $400 for a copy for home). I've tried Gimp and GimpShop, but the learning curve there has been longer than my patience. Paint is...umm...no. I haven't tried Picasa yet.

:) Well for creating images I would go with Adobe Illustrator
But for editing images I would go with Photoshop CS2
    Both very good programs :)

that, of course, assumes you are going to learn to use it's features. If you buy CS2 at full retail and only use it to resize photos for web and occasionally chop a friend's head onto a llama or something you are probably not getting your money's worth.

Everybody uses Photoshop. I'm cheap and poor so I use GIMP its a free/opensource program you can download online. Works for windows and linux. Not quite as good as PS but good just the same and free!

I use Google's Picasa 2 to edit and fix up my digital photos. I must say that it is pretty good, however, it has some quirks.

    Can't complain though, it's free. :)

I like Picasa2 to do all my edits. I don't take pictures much or edits pictures, so it does what I need to do.

And by the way, Coriolis you finally got that V6Va and the Atheros card that we all bought, hope you review that thing.

depends on the cause of the blur. if it was a slight bit of motion then Photoshop CS2 includes a new tool for attempting to remove it. If it was out of focus or caused by a lot of motion, then you are pretty much out of luck, if it is just generally soft, you can try sharpening with any number of tools. if you want to just play around, you can download Photoshop CS2 for a free 30 day trial from Adobe.

Paint Shop Pro. I don't think anyone should buy Photoshop unless they use it for work.

why? It seems to be far more widely used, which is convenient when you want instructions on doing things, plugins and actions, etc...

I can't wait till Adobe releases Lightroom Beta for windows. looks like a sweet program
