my antivirus told me to set certain parameters to boot yo faster, and one of the settings it made me change was msconfig >boot>adv options>no of processors >4

after a few days, I noticed that only two physical cores were active so I tried to reset the msconfig back to its previous settings. I unchecked the no of processors box and after that reset I wasn't able to log into windows anymore.

I tried the trouble shooting options, unfortunately I don't seem to have have a restore point, and all other options like auto repair, resetting the bios, etc, didn't work. I also tried resetting the pc but that didn't work too.

Any ideas how I could make my laptop work, short of a full Windows reinstall?
