Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew if the keys for x32 and x64 were the same from MSDN AA? I'm already using the key I got for the x32 version on this laptop, but would it be possible to use the x64 key on another x32 version on another computer? Thanks in advance.

One key will work for either 32bit or 64 bit Win 7.

I'm pretty sure you can only activate it on one computer.

I understand that, but I wasn't sure if they were effectively 2 different keys. I would assume they are, in which case the real issue is if a 64x key can be used to activate a 32x product.

    To answer his ACTUAL question.
With most MSDNAA accounts you can get 1 x64 and 1 x32 key.
These are DIFFERENT keys which can in fact be used to install 2 legitimate versions of the operating system. (whether 2 x64, 2x32 or 1 of each)

    You're welcome

I was just about to comment on that. One of my buddies has MSDNAA from his university and I asked him for a key and he asked me whether I wanted 32-bit or 64-bit because they're two different keys. Also, apparently the key cannot be used up to 10 computers, only once.

And since he was using the 64-bit version, he was only able to give me the 32-bit 7 Pro key. Will be making a clean install next week when I get back home so I can backup all my data.

The architecture doesn't matter when it comes to windows 7 keys; a 32bit key will activate a 64bit version and vice-versa.

The key only matters when it comes to the particular edition of windows 7. So a professional key (whether it be 64bit or 32bit) can only be used to activate a professional edition of windows 7 and not a home premium or ultimate edition. The keys you get from MSDNAA will be able to activate a 64bit or 32bit edition of whatever edition of windows 7/vista it is attached to.
