Maybe theres something wrong with your ram or your using X86(32Bit).
-
jackluo923 Notebook Virtuoso
Maybe it's a chipset limitation/something else is using your ram. IE graphic card
-
i got a asus g50vt-a1
my gfx card is a geforce 9800M GS 512mb which should have any vram at all?
can i somehow check that?
@edit:
shared system memory: 1279MB
lol thats new since win7.. can i somehow put that off? -
If your laptop uses the 945 chipset it has the "memory hole" which memory reserved for the motherboard, this is because this chipset was designed for the 32 bit Core Duo and was also used in the first gen Core 2 Duo cpu.
Sorry, -
think i got a 945 chipset.. but not sure.. also it worked fine on vista x64.
from asus page :
Mobile Intel® PM45 Express Chipset +ICH9M
so which chipset is that now ? -
fixed it:
msconfig -> boot -> advanced -> maximum memory -> uncheck + reboot
now i its working -
Good, at least your not unluky like my desktop with my crappy ASUS 250$ motherboard (A8N32-SLI *Deluxe*) where the board SUPPORTS 4GB of RAM but only address 4GB. This is what ASUS or ASOUSE (that is what they call them self when you call.. yes it's the right number), said. After some further research it ended up being a BIOS problem, because ASUS doesn't want to fix it as it's slightly old despite being able to run the latest games with a proper GPU without any trouble at max settings (except for Crysis, of course).
