XGL is for Linux...so no.

Not at the moment, and not in the forseeable future. So unfortunately, you can't upgrade from Aero.

If I dual booted my (1) 100gb hd with vista and linux, would it slow down my pc at all while running either OS. If not are there any other reasons why this would be a bad idea. Im using windows for 3ds max, photoshop, mudbox, zbrush, painter ect. I want linux mostly for xgl, would it be worth it?

I'd suggest looking into running a Virtual Linux Machine on your XP install...that might get you close to what you want.
