I just formatted my old latitude d600 running xp. My reinstallation disk has SP 1 so I had to first update to SP 2 and then to SP 3 through the windows update. Now im doing all the other small updates as well. Is there any way I can save SP 3 somehow so i don't have to do this again.

Also, maybe I should put this in dell section, but is there anywhere on the dell website that I can get all the latest drivers for my computer instead of reinstalling all the old ones? Thanks

Use N-Lite to make a new N-lited XP disc, and add any necessary SPs, drivers, hotfixes, updates, or remove anything unnecessary..!!

OEM serials are a bit specific, but I guess N-lite preserves the ID of the XP volume and only overwrites/replaces the files....

To slipstream a SP, you don't need nLite or anything. There are built-in commands in the SP. Here is an example for SP2, but it applies the same for SP3:

The command to begin the extraction is: C:\XP-SP2\WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe -x

The command to apply the Service Pack is: C:\XP-SP2\i386\Update\Update.exe -S:C:\XP

Yup. You can download the SP3 version for admins (the stand-alone package is now apparently only available via MS update, unfortunately), and then don't even bother with SP2, just go straight to SP3. Then all you have to update are the updates released subsequent to SP3 (all prior updates/hotfixes were rolled up into SP3).
