No surprise. I don't plan to upgrade to the 32-bit version of vista via the express upgrade.

I dont plan on doing the uppgrade until around mid june when the amd x4's are released & DDR3, then I'll upgrade to the x64 Business -

At least for now, XP will be faster. XP has had the time to mature in many ways - updates, fixes, drivers (from others, and native), etc.

OpenGL will be a layer ontop of D3D - http://dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=3760
I still thought vista would utilize multicore better than XP - :/ -

your right good catch - openGL layer'd ontop of D3D would cause a performance hit, skimmed through amongst doing other things - my bad
xp faster than Vista for now...
