    xp pro after installation

    i just installed xp pro with sp2 right out of the box(fresh). everythings runs perfectly and i want to know if i should do updates? are the updates gonna help with preformance or will it just help with security. i dont feel like updating cuz its probally gonna take 4ever. its running flawless now :cool:

    A large majority of updates (about 80 major ones or so that have built up since SP2 was released) are security related. Security helps to prevent trouble, which in turns helps to keep your laptop tuned up. If I were you, set it to download and install overnight if the connection is too slow.

    maybe about 100-200 megs. I would install the updates, a lot of them relate to security holes in Windows XP that have been exploited before.

    Just use AutopatcherXP.

    It will install all updates/hotfixes to date, in one streamlined installer. Also things like flash, java, tweakUI, etc, as well as some registry tweaks (everything is optional of course). Saves a ton of time.
