Hold the power button for a couple of seconds and it will shut down. Then press the power button again to start up the computer.

Antivirus/antispyware scans, and system restore/reinstall xp if that doesn't work.

Can you restart after you reformat and before you install anything?

Find a different driver, or don't install that driver.

Yeah like lithus said, don't install that driver. I mean if the computer works fine, then you install this driver and all of a sudden the computer doesn't work ok, doesn't that ring a bell, especially since you've done it so many times? Why would you keep doing it over and over again knowing perfectly well what causes the restart problems?

I believe Acer does have a official driver for 5920G with XP.
Anyway... so now you're saying that both the driver and antivirus software are causing the problem?

Just install one thing at a time and restart the system repeatedly. It's a slow process but it should help you find the true culprit.
