I am running windows xp professional. The volume icon in the taskbar keeps disappearing on me. I go in to sound and devices, put a check mark in "place volume icon in taskbar" then the icon shows up perfect. Restart the laptop and it becomes unchecked again. I have re installed the sound drivers. Has anyone come across this issue?

100+ Views,,, LETs help this person. I would try creating a new user, logging in with it and testing. If the issue persists try running How to Run ScanDisk in Windows XP | eHow BUT if you want to play it safe create a system image to an external drive before you run it.
