    y my cd key dont work on my notebook?

    i have a windows xp cd which i use to install the windows xp on my desktop

    but i have tried to install the cd on my notebook and the same cd key dont work!!!

    any1 know why?

    If you're trying to have both system with the same cd at the same time, that would be the problem. You're only allowed one computer per cd key.

    Most likely because the key is tied to another hardware configuration (say, if it's an OEM license it's only valid for that one machine)

    Your windows license is only valid on 1 computer at a time. Unkess its an OEM computer, ie Dell, Gateway, etc then it will only work on just that 1 computer. I recommend you purchase another license. There is alot of good deals now that Vista is out. GL
