    Prices are out of control at the moment, but I wouldnt be suprised if they get down to $1.50 or better within the next 6 months. Soon enough, it WILL be the defacto standard.

    I wouldnt be afraid of Intel drives. They arent permanently bricked. Many accounts of people getting them to unbrick through a variety of means. Not that an end user should have to screw with it that much. Intel cant be beat for random speeds (which is most daily usage), and has enough of a gain in sequential speeds to still make it faster than most conventional drives (without running them in RAID). Equal money right now per GB, I would take the Intel drive. Sequential speeds arent that important to me, but random speeds are.
