I wont to know if vostro 1000 can put a 9-cell battery in it?
How do I choose the type of battery and a good place to buy?
    And the expected duration?

If my memory serves me correct, you can install a 9-cell battery. I think it's just a little bit bigger out the bottom... Someone may be able to clarify that for me...

As for where to get it, you can look on eBay, Amazon, or Dell; Though if getting through Dell be pre-warned their prices are rather ridiculous...

Expected duration of the battery would depend really. Though I'd expect 3-4 hours.

You can install a 9-Cell. It should be the same 9-Cell as the 1501/E1505. Ebay has some starting in the 20s to 30s, but they're probably generic and probably a crapshot.
