I just got an E6410, and one of the compromises I had to make buying a refurbished unit was that the one I got does not have the onboard Bluetooth card. Is it possible to install one or is the machine not pre-wired for it?

Yes, its possible. Its a little card and a short cable that plugs in the motherboard.

    Bluetooth Module

    Bluetooth Install Instructions

The physical location 'above' the keyboard on the left side where the LCD lid mounts

    You need to

    Take the back cover off
    Take the LCD Lid off
    Take the Keyboard out

You can get away with taking most of the screws that hold the palmrest down and not completely take it off. As you remove screws, you'll find you can pull up on the palmrest (above the keyboard on the left side where the LCD lid mounts) and get to the bluetooth.

Its not hard, just time consuming.

Tip: On rare occassions, the BT device may connect but not work. Something gets confused. A solution here has been to remove that device (a mouse) from Devices and Printers, and then add it back again.
