Ok, once again i have a dell latitude e 6400 and i want get a backlit key board.
But they are 30 buck for a 6400 but for a 5400 they are 15 bucks. So the I'm wondering if they backlit key board is the same for all the 14'' E series latitudes.(and the 15''s for that matter)

A little bit of google image searching suggests no to me. Think you should just spend the extra $15.

Your sure your laptop has the extra power connector needed for the backlit keyboard?

    1) You don't need an extra power connector for the backlit keyboard. All E6400s come with all of the required circuitry; it's just a matter of swapping the KB.

    2) The E5400 and E5500 have two (several?) different keyboards, one version with a TrackPoint, and one version witout one. I think they only have a backlit version of the TrackPoint keyboard, in which case, it is the same as the E6400/E6500 keyboard, but I'm not 100% sure about this.

The non-TrackPoint E5400/E5500 keyboards will also work with the E6400/E6500... they'll just be missing the TrackPoint.

The E6410 keyboard is interchangeable with the E6400. That may open up some more shopping options.

I have a Dell Latitude E6400 and I want to get a backlit key board. They are like 30 bucks but once again they are cheaper for the E5400. So i got thinking, do all the 14'' E latitudes take the same keyboard. (and the 15'' for that matter)

It feels like this is the wrong place to be asking this question. So please tell me where to go. Thanks

I want to get a backlit key board for my E6400 but i noticed that they are half as much money for the E5400. So I'm wondering if all the 14'' and 15'' latitudes take the same keyboard.

Also, I don't know where you're looking, but I'm seeing new E6400 backlit keyboards on eBay for $15.
