this is for home use, i like the thin profile and built quality of the e6420 over the XPS models (excluding XPS 15z). also, after using company's e5420 for over a year now, i felt in love with the built-in docking port of the small business models. any pros and cons of getting e6420 over a XPS model i need to be aware of? thanks.

Primarily cost -- but, asthetics aside, the Latitude line is almost always superior to that of the XPS or the other consumer-oriented lines in overall build quality.

Of course, there are always exceptions. Usually if you're pretty savvy in dealing with Dell, or if you simply buy off of eBay, you can obtain the Latitudes at prices that are similar to, if not the same as you'd pay for an XPS. At least that was the case when I bought my D830, which, most assuredely, has stood up better than the XPS m1530.
