An external LCD monitor will definately be easier on the eyes, pixel density is much lower than laptop LCDs.

If the older folk are using bifocal / varifocal lenses then they may find the laptop screen easier to use because the display is lower and better aligned with the reading part of the lenses. in general, if people can read a book then they should be able to handle a laptop screen unless it is very high resolution.

Good point on screen height and multifocals. But focus aside, going from a typical 1024x768 17" or 1280x1024 19" CRT to a 1440x900 14" LCD with a restricted viewing angle is a challenge for aging eyesight... not an 'Oh, wow, much better!'.

LOL, I meant they need more room for paperwork by getting rid of the CRT/desktop and having a notebook instead. But thanks for the reply!

Do most of you who use these latitude laptops mostly use them for business reasons? I play online poker. Would this laptop be a bad idea?

Not necessarily, it's the "business features" that these laptops have that makes them favorable. These are things like better quality, better support/warranty, docking capability, matte screens, 16:10 aspect ratio (although that is getting more rare now), etc.

No. They are fine computers. Gamble on one.

My E6410 review has now been published. I have tried to include some useful comparisons with the E6400.
