I have a dell vostro 1510. My laptop's battery was giving around 1.5hrs battery backup till yesterday. Today I forgot to shut it down. When I came back my laptop was off and there was no power in house.
On booting it resumed my windows from hibernation so definitely it got hibernated when battery became critically low.
But since then I am not able to charge battery at all. The charging light keeps on blinking which actually is an indication that battery is not getting charged. Anything which I can do? I have already tried reinserting battery several times.
Windows shows"Plugged in not charging" Battery is not giving backup of even a single second. My laptop is around 2 years old but still 19 days of warranty still left. But I heard that dell covers battery only for one year. Is that true? I won't be able to contact customer care as it is not available on weekends. But If they don't replace it I will purchase new battery today itself.

The battery may have died. However, I would remove it from the computer for a few minutes and they put it back and try again. You can also look in the BIOS setup to see what that reports about the battery status.

Battery warranty is one year unless you have paid extra for an extended battery warranty. If you do need a new battery then look on ebay for genuine Dell batteries from sellers with good feedback.

I have tried removing and reinserting battery but all in vain.
I din't find any option in bios for battery status.
I din't paid for extended warranty but since my delivery was delayed dell gave me two years warranty as a goodwill gesture.
Blue charging light keeps on blinking. This pattern of blinking must be suggesting something?

I connected my laptop's battery in my friend's vostro and it also failed to charge it.
HW monitor shows that battery is giving 8.5 volt which was origionally 12volts. So output voltage has fallen below its rated voltage and AFAIK one cannot charge battery if its voltage drops below rated voltage. Correct me if I am wrong
So my battery is dead but I don't get it at all that my battery was giving backup of 1.5 hrs and now not even a single second
