Hey guys, I just ordered a Dell Latitude E6500.

Now I'm looking to get a cable lock for it. I know they are not the best at protecting your laptop, but some protection is better than none, besides I just want to lock down to a table while I need to run to the bathroom for a minute.

So, from personal experience, if you have a Dell Latitude E6500/E6400, what locks work/fit best for it? I've done some research and I've tried to read around(couldn't find much on here for the specific laptop).

So far I'm looking at these two (but I have no word from latitude E6500/E6400 users):

    http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F8E550...-Keyed/dp/B000F6Q4MW/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

However, I don't know how well these fit on our laptops.
So what do you guys know?

All locks fit the same. The part where the lock snaps in is a generic fit. That being said, any lock should suffice.

In theory yes, they all pretty much use the Kensington based lock, but in practice, not quite.

There are many horrible fits for specific models, be it from imprecise machining on the cable lock's side or the latitude's side. That's why I'm trying to ask someone who personally uses the laptop.

I got the Kensington Combo Saver. It fits the slot. You might want to review their products... keyed vs. combo, thick "ultra" cable vs. thin cable, coiled vs. straight.

I see, I've read quite a few combo vs keyed posts, seems like they both have their pro's and con's, both have their ways of being defeated.

    Any complaints, how is it?

I had one of those Kensington combo locks. It stopped working in that, even when I input the correct combo, it didn't unlock. Cut the cable off and now have the lock stuff to the back of my monitor lol. Looking at the Amazon reviews though, it appears this occurs a decent amount.

Welp, I Just ordered the Belkin F8E550-CMK . We'll see how it goes. I ended up getting it because it was inexpensive, received decent reviews, and is apparently slightly* more secure than the kensington barrel style lock.

I was going to get the Kensington Micro, but after watching this video I was a bit alarmed:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SkKJ4yOKo8

It's been floating around so I'm worried that enough people know about that I could come back to my table with a nasty surprise.

I guess I can let you guys know how the Belkin turns out to be when it arrives.

    Thanks for all the posts!
