I tried to start up my Vostro and the BIOS password failed.

A simple CMOS battery removal reset the BIOS settings and somehow the old BIOS password was restored.

So what I'm asking is: What the hell happened?

You type the password using external keyboard or laptop keyboard?

Somehow I find it funny that using external keyboard (docking) it will not work, not sure why.

I mean I typed in my password and it no longer worked.

I checked caps lock and all other variables.

    External keyboard didn't work either.

    I'm stumped.
