    Hi All,

My company offers two configurations to choose from below.
I'm not worried about the size difference just performance, everything else for the systems is equal. I use it for sim's, models, cad, and some games during travel.

Which would be better? m4500 worse video card but the m6500 has worse CPU

    M4500 w/ i7-940xM Dual Core and 512MB Quadro FX770M

    OR

    M6500 w/ i5-520M and 1GB Quadro FX3700M

    Thanks for taking a look

Sounds like you do need the graphics, in which case, and since size doesn't matter to you, between the two that you gave it's the M6500, hands down. It's got a far, far more powerful GPU, and neither your work nor your games ;) should be CPU limited.

Iv never heared of an i7-940xm being duel core, only quad core. You can always put in a i7-940xm after you get the unit in the m6500, its quite simple. All i5's are duel core though.

A bit strange that the M4500 would have a FX770M... THat's not an option when you order the machine online from DELL??

My mistype on the dual core, the 940xm is quad core.

The reason for the 770 is this is a company supplied for large companies so it's not a normal order for consumer and thus the limited choices.

Thanks for the replies. I will go with the m6500. What I also learned from another member of these forums is that if you order the m6500 with i5, dual core you only get two memory slots NOT four. But I agree with everyone to go for the better video card instead of CPU. Thanks for the help deciding!

Here is the link to the M6500 specs manual:

    Documentation

If you look at the memory section the part about only two memory modules is a note listed beside the Connectors information. I hope this helps other people avoid a possible return. :)
