Clean Install on E6410

Hi,

I got a new HD and need to install windows 7. My question is what drivers do I need to download before I start?

For my E6410 when did a clean install, I only had to find the Control Vault, Fingerprint and Intel GMA video drivers. Windows 7 should find most of the drivers.

 

Thanks. I guess i'll only need network drivers so i can connect to the internet. Also, what is the control vault?

 

Intel WLAN drivers can be downloaded via Intel's site. Windows 7 should have the Intel Ethernet driver.

 

If you have a Dell WLAN card, you'll need to get that. You'll also need the AMT HECI driver, Turbo Boost driver, accelerometer, Ricoh card reader, IDT audio, and Dell touchpad drivers to get rid of all unknown or generic devices.

If you have discrete graphics, you'll also need the latest Nvidia driver. One note about installing drivers manually...there are three Nvidia HD Audio devices that will need to be installed manually.

Since you're on support.dell.com already, make sure your BIOS is updated to A09 as well.
