    Hello Guys.

Any of ya who tried the new M4700 from Dell? I'm considering to switch my M4600 to a M4700, i never really became happy for my M4600, because of the faulty Fans, bad ATI GFX and trouble with the laptop and Intel SSD drives – the system went unstable as soon as i mounted a Intel drive.

So now I’m planning to buy a new M4700, has anyone of ya any experiences with it? Does it support Sata 3 In Raid between 2,5” and the mSATA? (The M4600 does not support sata 3 in the mSata slot)
What about the fans, do they have the same issue with pulsing on/off constant?

What brand os SSD's does Dell use for the M4700? Lite-On?

    Greetings
    Rasmus

I've also found a leeked manual, saying the M4700 only has 1 SATA III port, rest SATA II.. The M6700 has two SATA III...
But one should be fine, anyone know if the IntelSSD 520 also will make the M4700 unstable?

What about caddy SATA port? Should it be SATA III?

BTW, even on my Lenovo W520 there are two SATA III (the main slot and caddy) and mSATA SATA II. It is hard to believe that Dell would provide only a single SATA III for a newer top-grade model...

The manual says the only SATA-3 port in the M4700 is the main hard drive port.

It is quite a big issue, at least, for me. If it is the case, I will have to stick with Lenovo...

That is true on the M6700. I do not know if it is the true on the M4700.

IMO not a deal breaker. I mean, as stated, it would be nice to have for a top end model but the performance difference is minimal compared to SATA/600. I would go with the mSATA SSD and 2x HDDs. The main strength of any SSD is access times and random R/W speeds. These are unaffected by the bandwidth since they are not even close to saturating even the slowest connection (SATA/150). No current 2.5" HDD is bottlenecked by SATA/300 either.

I believe Samsung and/or Crucial. They might also use others such as Toshiba.
