    Hi,

I recently decided to purchase the lenovo x220 laptop. But now after hearing about the microsoft free xbox 360 offer, i am considering getting a laptop from the participating retailers.
So I just wanted to know if there are any models in Dell or any other manufacturers which are comparable to the X220?

    Thank you

If "comparable" means a 12" business notebook with Sandy Bridge, the answer's no. The 12" Latitude hasn't been refreshed since the E4200, and I don't know if it will be soon.

As stated above, there isn't any inkling of a replacement for the E4200 which is still ridiculously overpriced, plus you wouldn't get an IPS screen either.

The E6220 was previewed in February, and there are some hands-on impressions. Details are scarce, but non-ULV CPU and typical 12.5" footprint are confirmed. No weight, tickness or battery info though. My personal guesstimate is that build quality equals/surpasses X220, but battery performance is not as good. No word on IPS or other screen.

Release in June was the last rumour I read.

Well unknown specs aren't any better than vaporware. I doubt it would be on par with ThinkPad quality...

i havent played with the latest latitudes/precisions but the ones from the previous generation (E6500/E6510 generation) and even the D series were top notch quality wise. easier serviceability as well.

the D series keyboard was a bit sucky but the E series i actually prefer the keyboard to my thinkpad's. the thinkpad has less flex but the feel of the keyboard (the backlit ones) on the E series is better IMO.

so i dont think there is much reason to doubt the quality

I frequently use my mom's E6400, and I was an owner of a E6410 for about 10 days, and I prefer the D series IMO. D series are comparable to ThinkPad quality.

E series keyboards IMO are inferior to the D series, though getting used to the squishiness is easy to get used to.

the D series keyboard is too "clacky" and feels cheap, but i suppose its personal preference.

Thanks for the replies. I could not also find another laptop with good specs as X220 in the price range. I was pretty much set on the X220 till the XBOX came into the equation :p
Any other brands come to mind? I am just looking for a highly portable laptop with a good screen. does not need discrete graphics. Sandy bridge graphics will do

    Much appreciated!

there are a few 13" sony's, and HP has 12" business notebooks too IIRC the HP is the only 12" with a CD drive

personally i'd just forget about the xbox. its not like they are soooo expensive anyway.
