Hi, I have a Dell D520, with the Celeron M 430 @1.73 GHz 533, I upgraded the CPU to a Core Duo T2400, 1.83Ghz 667 FSB but when i try to turn the laptop on, nothing is displayed on the screen, I hear the hardrive kick on, i see the LED power light, light up, i hear the CD drive Spin up to see if there is anything in the drive, but that is where it stops. The screen will stay black, and i can not get past this. If i put in the old CPU it will boot up no problems..

    I am waiting for the other CPU a T5600. I bought 2, a T2400 and a T5600.

What should i do, and how do i get this to work? Thanks!

Did you update the BIOS? The new chip might not be supported by your version of the BIOS.

Did you remember to lock down the CPU after you installed it?

So i just got off of tech support, after 4 1/2 HRS on wait!!!!!

and he said that the CPU is dead..........

Possible? The seller said it was working and comes with a 30 days DOA warranty. So i am now going to contact this seller, and see if i can get a refund, as i only need the T5600 anyways (should be here tomorrow), and not the T2400..

Yeah, it might be dead, but I feel like it's really, really, rare to see mobile processors die. I can't think of a better explanation, though; the D520 shipped with the T2400 by default, so there's no reason it shouldn't work.

yeah, idk, i give up, I HOPE that i will not have this problem with the T5600.

Dell support said that both of the CPUS will work.

my guess it was over heated/over clocked or something, and that killed it, or it was dying. or its not dead at all...

But if i take out the CPU, and try to start the computer, the screen will not light, and the computer will just turn off after a few secs.

If i put in the the T2400 and try to start the computer, the screen will not light, but the computer will just stay on, but i dont think it is going anywhere.

If i put in the 430 Chip, it will boot right up, and Zero problems....
