    Hey,
I'm new to the threads and i am having trouble finding a specific topic. I have a dell latitude d830 with core 2 duo processor t7100. I have gotten ahold of a core 2 duo t9600 and i would like to put that in my latitude. Is it even possible and is it hard?

    Thanks

The T9600 is a Montevina generation CPU so it won't work in your D830. The fastest processor that will work with your Latitude is the T9500. Alternately, you can also use the T9300, but NOT the T9400, T9550, T9800, or T9900.

No, none will work. Go to Intel's ARK and search your chipset and scroll down to see what CPUs are compatible. When you find that out, then post back to confirm if it will work. If you have the PM965 chipset, then your best bet is the T9500.

Another way is to go by FSB, i think your current CPU is 800mhz FSB, and T9600 is 1066mhz

    I replaced a core2duo 1.6ghz with a T9500 engineering sample - both were 800 fsb

Yeah the t9500 is the fastest Core 2 Duo chip that you can put in. The website also says though that you can place a Core 2 Extreme Processor in. Would that be possible? I'm probably gonna go with the t9500 but i was just wondering if they extreme processor would actually work.

The X9000 should technically be compatible with your machine. However, this processor produces a lot more heat than the T series ones, like the T9500. It will cause a lot of problems with heat (because your computer is not designed to accommodate that processor in terms of heat dissipation), so it's not a good idea.
