What type of interface is the 1.8" HDD in the D420 and D430? zif?

The laptop I'm looking at has no hard drive. He says the rubber case is included, but the ribbon cable is missing.

Will the ribbon cable be included in a new zif 16GB SSD?

Does the D420 get better battery life than the D430 on a 9 cell?

    Thanks

This is probably the cable your seller is referring to. It's proprietary to the D420 and D430 (as far as I know), and will probably not be included with a given 1.8" ZIF drive (unless you buy it specifically for these machines - then it might).

    Battery life really depends on configuration... I think you've got 9-Cell and 6-Cell versions of both machines and single-core and dual-core versions of both machines as well. A D420 with a dual-core and a 6-Cell obviously won't beat a dual-core D430 with a 9-Cell, but a D420 with a single-core and a 9-Cell might.

As the man above has already said, that is the cable you are looking for. I highly doubt unless you buy a drive used that it would come with that cable.

I believe the D420 was running the sollo processor instead of the dual core so that could yield a bit better results but then the lack of power in the end could cost more juice.

I have a D430 and a 9cell was the only way to go

    ps-SSD's rule!

I think your right, the D430 seems to be only selling for $50-99 more...

If you buy a D430 with an ~80GB spinner HDD I'm guessing you don't need the hard disk cable even if you intend to use an ssd?

The cable connects the motherboard to the drive, so no matter what drive you use it is required.
