D420, Worth upgrading to SSD?

    Looking to buy a used D420, and seeing everywhere that they are really slowwwwwwww, would it be worth getting a 32gb ssd hdd? and having 2 1tb externals?

    i would get at least 2 gigs with XP and a /ssd would be nice :)

    32GB ZIF SSD costs more per-gb than 2.5" SATA SSD. 1.8" ZIF SSDs list shows benchmarks for the current crop.

    You might find the D420 also has a CPU and single-channel graphics bottleneck. Fine for surfing the web, but would be underpowered for say Aero interface in Win7. Might be worth looking a HP NC2400(duo) instead. At least you can put a cheaper 2.5" HDD in via the optical drive bay. (see my sig)

    Well, It looks like on ebay, they have the exact same processor as the D420 - Centrino U2500 ULV. and about 3 times more expensive.
