Well although they are very small and compact machines they are underpowered. Also add that in that they do tend to get a bit toasty and the battery life is that of a regular laptop eventhough its small form factor.

I would not personally pay more than 300 and that is top of the line. Best play is that there is a section in the sale section for price checks.

Check Ebay for pricing, but all in all, selling these laptops generally aren't worth it. $300 or a spare/test system...I would definately pick the latter unless I already have several spares.

Oh I was looking to buy one, not sell it. I'll check the correct forum, sorry!

    Thanks

Hey there is nothign wrong with asking. I have one and I like to use it but I use it like a larger netbook since with a SSD I can play around with it. But I do not use it for any serious tasks.

As I said though alot of people do not go for them because they are underpowered, dont get great battery life for their size, and get toasty

The E4300/E4310 will cost more, but it's a more capable system with real CPUs. It's a little larger at 13" and also has an optical drive, but it's the balance between size and performance because the E4200 is like the D430.

I would go for the E4300, the Dell Outlet has some great deals on them.

I have to agree, I was actually looking for a E4300 myself before I went and got a E6400 because it fit my needs better in the end.

You will spend about twice as much for it but in the end you will like it better.

I purchased a used D600 1.8 Ghz notebook last year on E-Bay that was scratched up but it works great. The D610 is also a great notebook. My D600 is also capable of running Windows 7, but I only use XP for compatibility. It is used every day six days a week at my desk during the day and goes home at night with me. Fits nicely in my Dell 8000 Inspiron notebook case and is smaller than my beloved D820. The D400 and D500 series notebooks are cheap business notebooks that I question build quality of.
