Hi guys first time posting i have read a few thing on here about performing this upgrade but i need some insight.

    Specs:

    Latitude D500
    CPU: Intel Pentium M 1.3Ghz
    BIOS: A10
    Chipset: Intel 855

Im looking to go as fast as possible but i am unsure is the processors i want are supported on my system?

I know i can get away with the pentium M 745 1.8 dothan no problem. But i want to go for either a Pentium M 755 or 765 2.0/2.1 GHz Dothan both 400mhz Fsb 479 socket type.

Anyone with experience with these working or know if they will work/ my bios supports them?

    Thanks again

Looks like the 755/765 are 400 FSB so theoretically they should work. Make sure you update to the latest BIOS. Also more "MHz" generally doesn't make a difference unless you are doing CPU intensive tasks.

Looks like i have version A10 which is most current for BIOS, also for an older computer i have a fresh install of Vista home basic on an 80 GB 5400rpm HD and the computer performs surprisingly good. I just want to max the speed since CPU's are so cheap i can get a 1.8 for $20 bucks so why not maximize performance in this old beast lol, plus id like to maybe do some mobile Audio recording so faster CPU would be better ;)

    Thanks for the reply
