Config : Dell D620 with SigmaTel Audio chipset

All works fine, except for one simple problem which has been bugging me for a while now!

The problem is with sound recording.

When I go to volume Control -> recording, I get to see three options :
    - Line In
    - Rear Mic
    - Microphone

The problem is, every time i reboot the laptop, Line In gets selected. ie., the selection gets defaulted to Line In.

I would like Microphone to be the default.

Is there any way I can change the default recording source?
Its really annoying to change the source every time. Specially when you use apps like Skype and you already received the call and realize that the other party is unable to hear you!

I am an advanced user - so feel free to let me know if any registry setting etc needs to be changed.

Look in the Control Panel in the Sound and Audio Device. The settings is in the Audio tab, Sound Recording default devices.

    Tried it. Doesn't work.

Sound and Audio Device lets you select the default device - which in my case is correct (SigmaTel Audio).

    Any other options?
