Ok I just noticed a few minutes ago that, while my touchpad works fine, the pointing stick and pointing stick buttons no longer work on my D630. I checked the Dell Touchpad settings, they were enabled...i disabled them and reenabled them, but no joy.

I would guess loose connector, but the touchpad would stop working if that was the case im sure...

    Any advice?

You have done the basic debugging. I would remove / replace the keyboard in case it clears any connection problem. If it doesn't then it's time to look on ebay for a new keyboard.

Just for giggles, have you reinstalled the driver? And restarted? Sometimes computers are like that.

That and as John mentioned, check the physical connection, or it maybe time for a cheapo OEM keyboard replacement on Ebay!

The pointing stick buttons are attached to the palmrest assembly, so I'm betting this is a software issue. The palmrest connection requires removing the palmrest to check, it's in the left edge.

Oddly enough, it started working a bit later on.....strange. No reboot necessary! :D Thanks for the advice!
