For the Ram, get a brand name one. Don't touch the ones you find on eBay.

Yeah, 64bit won't work on the T2400, so search on eBay for the T7600.

The T7600 will be an expensive model to get, I would look at the T7200 instead. That 0.33GHz isn't worth the extra money (T7200 under $100, T7600 about $200).

You might be able to sell the T2400 for about $40 though.

With the T7600 CPU, would 64-bit Windows 7 be able to use all 4GB of RAM?

No reason it shouldn't be able to use all 4GB.

No, the chipset would not allow it. My D620 was only about to use 3096MB with a 64-bit OS.

Really? I'm pretty sure the D620 we have at work recognizes all 4GB. I guess I'll double check next time, though.

It does recognize all 4GB in the BIOS, but Windows only gets to use ~3092MB because the rest is reserved. I stayed with 32-bit on my D620 and transitioned to 64-bit on my D630.
