:) I have a Dell D620 notebook & the 4 prong cig. lighter plug cord came unplugged from the lighter socket but the plug itself is still in a customers vehicle & cannot seem to locate the customer. I work for a Ford dealer & need this plug so we can use the dc/dc charger to connect the charger to the vehicle while testing the vehicle's on the road.
I was hoping someone would link me a site where I can find just this plug. It connects & locks into the cord.
In the pic it is the upper top right pic of the plug.
    Thank's! ;)

 I meant to say 4 pin. 2 with small pins & the other 2 with large pins.
I wonder if there's a way to make a cig. lighter plug from from a premade one & solder the wires in. I thought they were merely a 2 wire configuration. Power & ground. Don't know why they would have 4 pins.
Any one know how I can solder one from a bulk plug?
We need that charger desperately so we can take the laptop on road trips to diag. Ford veh's with our Dell D620 diag. software IDS.
Don't want to spend the extra money for another charger ($60.00) when the one we have is available & working except for the plug missing.
    I would be greatful. :)

I'm sure that you can improvise. The challenge is to figure out the connection arrangement at the adaptor end. I agree that only 2 of the 4 contacts matter.

Is the reason for the other contacts so that the different power cables all connect into one socket? (I have an old iGo Juice adaptor which has this arrangement). Is there a diagram on the bottom of the PSU?

Can you post a close-up photo of the socket on the PSU plus a photo of any label on the bottom?

    Yes!
I have a pic of the connector but is a pic of a generic brand but you can get the idea from the pic of what I need to make one. As soon as I figure out how to upload the pic.
    Thank's!

This is the male plug (Part of the cable coming from the car dc power supply) the cigarette lighter plug i'm needing plugs into. Dell can't seem to help me out getting this separate piece.
    Hope this helps.
    Thank's! :)

That looks like an airplane power port... Dell's newest DC power adapter comes with a piece that converts from an airplane port to a cigarette lighter type socket...

    You are confused derekd!
The part i'm needing is the male cigarette lighter plug that goes into a car cigarette lighter that plugs into the dash. Not an airplane adaptor. I've seen those online at lots of places.
I was thinking if I can't find one i'll ether have to purchase the whole dc charger kit or cut the cord & splice in a bulk plug to make it work. But can't seem to find out why it would have 4 pins instead of 2 pins like most have. Don't know what the other 2 pins are for unless their just for alignment purposes only. I thought all just had ground & 12 volt pins. I'm afraid to cut into a perfectly good cord & charger kit just to make one but maybe I have no other choice.
Thank's for going to the trouble in looking up that part though derekd.
    Have a great day.

    I'll figure something out sometime.
Need it fixed bad :frown: so we can view the data pids on our customer's veh's on the road with our laptop so the battery doesn't go down.
