    Hi Guys,

First of all thanks for your time ... i have a dell d510 i recently formatted and reinstalled windows service pack 3 from dell cd.. initially when i started up windows, nic and wireless adapter was not at all detected and shown in device manager,, after spending hours and hours of troubleshooting i took out wireless card (Intel) from its slot and restarted laptop.. This time broadcom ethernet controller was detected and installed and i got the internet working...now whenever i put the wireless card in ethernet device disappears from device manager..thinking the wireless card is faulty i bought another one and the issue did not resolve same problem!!..

I would really appreciate if you guys can help me out.. i have almost given up..thanks

Interesting problem. There are a handful of little troubleshoots out there you can try but I do not think any give a definite answer. What I see some suggest is get a ubuntu live cd i believe and that will boot right from the cd without any install. Then that could show you if it is windows or the machine

Have you tried updating the drivers? Get the latest driver from http://support.dell.com and run Windows Update to see if there's a newer version available.

Have you tried reinstalling Windows again? Check the Mini-PCI slot as well, there may be debris in there wreaking havoc.

I have a D510 that does something similar but with just the wireless card. I have pretty much just chalked it up to the mobo failing.

You did not mention though, were these both working before you formatted the machine?
