Can anyone tell me what the fastest processor would be to fit my D610? Also, what is the largest hard drive capacity? Will it read solid state drives?

    Thanks

    Fastest processor: Pentium M 780 2.26GHz

Not sure about max hard drive capacity, but it takes 2.5" SATA hard drives of which exists up to 500GB.

It should read SSDs because the computer cannot differentiate between them and regular drives.

No, I'm pretty sure that the D610 still takes PATA drives. I don't think Dell switches the Latitude line over to SATA drives until the Dx20 machines. They can be SSDs, but good luck finding a more-than-slow PATA SSD. Nonetheless, fastest processor is the 780.

It may just be the inverter or backlight... but those sorts of problems usually make the screen go red. Depending on your resolution, I wouldn't pay more than $100... though I think somewhere around $75 well within reach. Unless, of course, you buy it from Dell...

Unfortunately, the Latitude D620 has a Socket M processor, and the D610 has a Socket 479 processor which are not swappable with each other.

Ok.. New question.. stupid me.. I opened the d610 to clean the fan and heatsink. i walked away and my sister's son pulled it down on the floor. now there is a small crack on the motherboard. Its now a dead duck.. Will the D620 mobo fit the chassis or do I have to stick with the 610 board?

I wouldn't bother with it, a nice D620 or D630 can be bought for less than $500.

As for D620 motherboard, no. Completely different size and port layout.
