    Hey,

I bought a Dell D620 second hand. The display has some dark spots and I would like to replace the screen. The screen is an LG WXGA screen.

    Couple of questions:

    1) If I buy a Samsung screen without inverter, can I use the original inverter for the Samsung screen?
    2) Can I buy a WXGA+ screen and just pop it in or would I need to change other things like cables?

This is probably a popular question, so I'm sorry if it's a repeat. I tried a search, but could not find anything. If you have any more tips for buying a screen second hand, please enlighten me!

    1) Yes you should be able to use your existing inverter.

    2) Adunno if the cables are different, mine had the 1440x900 screen when I bought mine. Worst case is the resolution isn't supported and you order the 1440x900 LVDS cable..

There are two different LCD cables for the D620. Chances are you will need to replace it if you originally had the WXGA screen.

Also, stay away from Samsung LCDs. They are very grainy and don't look sharp. I had to go through so much trouble to get Dell to replace two replacement LCDs because of that (originally had LG Philips in both systems and requested LGP, but they were backordered at the time).
