My company gave me a D830 to use with a resolution of 1680x1050.

How does it compare to a 1920x1080 on a 15.6" VS the 15.4" screen.

    Is the 1680x1050 16:10 = 1920x1080 16:9 ?

    1680x1050 @ 15.4" = 128 pixels per inch
    1920x1080 @ 15.6" = 149 pixels per inch

I wouldn't recommend the FHD screen unless you have excellent reading vision. While you can change the scaling in Windows, a one pixel line may tend towards the invisible.

I had a d820 with 1680x1050 and loved it - perfect resolution. And I worked on a d820 with a 1920x1200 screen. It was pretty hard for me to use comfortably. I got a Precision m4400 with a 1440x900 screen and am pretty comfortable with that.
