My 2c is I Can tell the difference.
Once you've used an X18 or X25, you just can't tolerate much else.

And so why are you selling your "just as fast" 128gb SSD from a "Brand new Dell E4200"?

And also, Dell's Propietary trick in this case, prohibits further upgrade unless you buy from them.
And, ie, the 256gb encrypted SSD was priced at $953 in Dell parts, more recently dropped to $803.
    The 128gb Encrypted $450+.
More expensive than Intel and other superior products.

depends on the firmware revision, I don't know what revision firmware you will get so can't tell you for sure if it will support TRIM. chances are, if its manufacture date is 2010, it has firmware that supports trim.

I haven't seen one of these that were manufactured in 2010 that didn't have trim enabled firmware. and I've seen about 300 of these so far.

I successfully upgraded my 64GB mobility SSD to a twice as fast 128GB with TRIM support. Presently there are several SSDs on eBay that fits the E4200. Search for a slim version (=no casing) 1.8" SSD with uSATA/microSATA connector.

Here's the link to the drive I bought:
Samsung SSD Thin 128GB uSATA MLC Solid State Drive TRIM - eBay (item 170552178923 end time Oct-23-10 19:00:17 PDT)

The drive is a Samsung 128GB SSD 1.8" on uSata Interface.
    Model: Thin 128GB uSATA MLC
    SSD P/N: MMCRE28GTDXP-MVB (D1)
    Date of production: 2009.11.21
    Firmware: VBM24D1Q
