Thanks for all the responses. A follow-up to some of the questions/answers..

Backlit keyborad - Pressing FN + Left Arrow key dims the screen, but doesn't turn on the backlit keyboard. Is it possible that my E4300 doesn't have the capability, or am I missing drivers? Do I need to enable it somewhere?

Mouspad drivers - there are no drivers for Windows 7? Has anyone succeeded installing Vista drivers?

    Additional questions..

What is the EC slot for on the right side of the laptop?

Is there any software for enabling touch/swipe commands for the latop's touchpad? Meaning, I'd like to mimic the back/forward motion as on the iPhone.

One more thing - In the Bios I came across the option to enable Dell Express Charge - are there any cons to enabling it?

its not the left arrow key, left arrow key enables the Auto Light Sensor.

the Fn+Right arrow key toggles the settings for the backlit keyboard, auto, on, off.

it may be possible your unit did not come with a backlit keyboard, as it is not standard. is there a icon on your right arrow key, something like a rectangle with lines "shining" out of it?

touchpad lets you zoom and scroll, thats all AFAIK

You can run Vista drivers on 7 so yes, use the touchpad drivers provided, lol.

The EC slot is the ExpressCard slot. ExpressCard is the successor to PC card slots in older laptops. You use the ExpressCard slot as a form of system expansion. While there are a wide variety of EC cards, the most common use for the slot is for a mobile broadband internet access card through a Cell Phone company

IIRC, in order to use multitouch, you need a trackpad capable of multitouch. The E-series trackpad isn't capable of multitouch.
