Do all Dell E5400 have a matte screen? I want a matte one not glossy. Also when I choose LED screen for my custom E5400 it would not let me. And in general how is this laptop for basic use?

Dell describes the glossy displays as "truelife". I don't see this work in the E5400's descriptions.

If this page is correct, the E5400 displays use CCFL backlights (see the side-by-side comparison). However, it is also possible that Dell is now using LED backlit displays but has not updated the information.

I just bought myself a dell e5400. Great laptop, and I did get the LED screen (also matte) but you have to select the 9200m to get it.

    Specs:
    p8700
    2gbs ram (1 dimm)
    9200m
    160gb hdd
    LED screen
    $664

i love it, its a little thick but doesnt bother me

great for basic use, the keyboard is really nice and similar to my logitech illuminated (which imo is the best keyboard). with the dedicated graphics I can play source-engine games (and other games with the same gfx-demand) and stream 720p perfectly smooth.
