I have a dell latitude c640 30 gig hard drive. Im not to good with laptops. My hard drive finally broke. I was wondering what a good replacement would be. Also if anything faster then a 4200rpm fits. I am just not to sure what to order so that it is compatible. Any links would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

Any standard IDE 2.5" HDD should work, although I would definately suggest using this an excuse to upgrade the laptop. ;)

The C640 might be old enough that the BIOS does not support LBA so the maximum HDD size that it can address is 137GB.

However, this doesn't stop it working with a bigger HDD. It just won't use all the available capacity.

Almost all the modern HDDs are 5400rpm or faster plus the modern drives have higher data densities, which improves performance.
