Boy I hope someone here can help me. I was given a Latitude laptop. It worked fine at first. The battery doesn't hold much of a charge so I've been plugging it in for now. Yesterday, I was loading some pictures from a thumb drive into it. I stepped away for 5 min. and when I came back the screen was black. I thought it had gone into a snooze mode but I couldn't get the screen to come back. I still can't get the computer to come on. The green lights came on at first, I'm sure, but now they don't. Is there a way to check and see if my hard drive has gone south? I'm not a newbie with computers but I'm far from a nerd. And I've never dealt with a laptop before. Help please?

If you power on do you see a screen that says ~ f2 to enter setup? If you do press f2 a few times and go into the BIOS to see if the HDD is being recognized. It would not hurt to remove the bottom cover and reseat the ram . Also reseat the hard drive if major disassembly is not required, if you need a manual
