    Hi guys

I have a problem with my Dell Latitude D430, would really appreciate some help!

The problem is it won't switch on. Each time I press the power button the standby light and the three lights above the keyboard (caps lock, num lock, scroll lock) flicker just for a moment, and then it goes dead.

I have tested the charger, the battery, and removed/re-seated the RAM with no joy.

I am fearing that this could be a faulty motherboard :(

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

    Hello djanon,

My name is Anue and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell.

From your post, we understand, that the computer wouldn’t start.
As you confirm , that the battery and the charger works fine and in-spite of reseating the memory, the LEDs still flash for few seconds and go off.

You could the try the following steps and check if it makes any difference.

 Turn off the laptop and remove bot the battery and the charger.
 Press and hold the Power button down for around 30 seconds, to remove all power of the laptop.
 Remove the memory and try powering on with without memory and if its beeps try one memory at a time.
 If still no-go, remove the Hard Drive and the DVD drive and try replacing the components one at a time and to identify the faulty component.
 If the issue still persists, it confirms the Motherboard is faulty and the same has to be replaced.
Kindly update the results, we would be glad to assist you.
    Thanks & Regards

Why are we getting these useless drone responses from Dell via their "Social Media Responder"? Seriously, if the OP wanted Dell to chime in, they could have gone to the Dell support website and received the same generic response.
