    Hello,

I have a problem. I own a Dell Latitude D505, witch is working but the motherboard is almoust dead, the other components (CPU, LCD, HDD , Video card and memory DDR are working perfectly). Now I bought a working motherboard, the base of an Latitude D510 (motherboard+CPU+heatsink+fan an lower plastics). I would like to change the working display(LCD) from the D505 on the D510. First problem I saw, was with the memory, D505 uses DDR and D510 uses DDR2. The next problem, the LCD connectors left, the two tubes are smaller, and as I see the LCD plug is smaller as the motherboard connector. HDD fits, CPU is already in, Video card already in, DVD-RW fits, and keyboard fits too. Can someone please tell me if there is any way to connect the D505 lcd display to the D510 motherboard ? Are there any adapters? Thanks !

    Dave

I can not honestly confirm but I highly doubt there are any soft of adapters that you are looking for currently made for this. Even if you got that to work I think the dimensions of the LCD bezel are slightly different.

Buy the correct display cable for the D510. The actual LCD panels should be compatible.

Actualy I have the LCD bezel, I have the whole upper part from the clinches ... and phisicaly it fits perfectly(the D505) on the D510 base, the only problems are the wifi connectors and the connector that connects the upper part with the base, on the motherboard....

It would be perfect if I could know if the lcd panel connector output is the same on the both D505 & D510, and just the lower connector on the motherboard is different.... If that is so, normaly, the display should work with the D510 cable connector....

As I said, the screens should be compatible. You need a D510 cable for SXGA+ screens, the D510 cable for XGA screens will most likely not work.

Please don't multi-post. There is an edit function.
