    Hello notebook enthusiasts! :)

I have an old dell laptop (latitude d510) with Pentium M 730, 1,6 Ghz:

    I also got a T5550 Core 2 duo processor:

I would like to know if there is a possibility to replace the Pentium M with the core 2 duo, since the socket is supported (PPGA478). I know it is also up to the motherboard chipset type (dell has 915GM, core 2 duo was in GM965). Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance, best regards

I don't think its possible since the chipset won't support the core 2, and also the BIOS may have issues as well. You can always try it though... :)

Not going to work. The T5550 won't even physically fit in the D510 socket.
