    hi i have a d620 latitude , and a sony bravia 40" t.v ,
    i have just braught a vga to hdmi lead but pluged vga into laptop and hdmi into t.v , but no picture on my tv but still on laptop !

    have i got wrong wire? if so which one do i need
    have i got to do something else?

    VGA to HDMI cables do not work. You need an USB to HDMI adapter or your TV needs a VGA connection.

    Yes VGA to VGA will work if your TV has it (any TV within 2-4 years should at least have 1 VGA connection). Just realize it won't transmit sound but you can buy a 3.5mm to RCA adapter if your TV has it.
