Have been given a Dell Latitude D630 to sort out. It has dual images on boot screen. Vintage September 2007. I am 100% confident that this is classic NVidia failure. Dell have refused to help as the NBD warranty expired last month.

So I have been looking for a new systemboard. There seem to be several out there. Dell (0)PN302 or (0)R872J. Either new or refurbished. The latter seems to be the later revision.

Part number (0)T795N also seems to be a drop-in replacement. And the vendor has suggested that this board has a revised GPU without the original problem. Can anyone confirm? Or otherwise what is the difference between the boards.

I am aware that a D630 board with Intel GPU can be used, but this requires a different heatsink and the heatsinks are not so readily available.
    Thanks,

There is no "revised" GPU on D630 Nvidia boards. If you want to use an Intel board, you will most likely need a new heatsink, but nothing else needs to be changed.

Dell gave the Nvidia GPU an extra year of warranty. However, many of their support people seem to be unaware of this.

+1, we have a pile of D620's and D630's with extended warranties.
