I had a spare Dell Latitude D630 which was having troubles. I was thinking to sell it here but today Dell decided to give me a replacement.
I was wondering what sort of replacement are they giving out for this model?
    Core 2 Duo Processor, T7500
    2GB RAM
    80G HDD

Intel GPU and other basic stuff.

You might get a base model E6510 or E6410.

Probably E6400 or E6410. Either way, you will end up on top. :)

    Hmmm..
sounds like will be a nice replacement.
Since I am not into latitude models...
What's the impact difference between 6510 and 6410?

    E6400 got Core 2 Duos....

    1. The E65x0 series are 15" notebooks and the E64x0 series are 14". The former weight about 1lb more than the latter.

The E6400 has the Core 2 Duo CPU (eg P8600, T9700). In my experience the P series CPUs run cooler and give better battery life than the new Core i series.

Under warranty? What happens 3 years down the line your laptop craps out under warranty and no comparable models come out? Like my Latitude 13, say in 3 years they eliminate the V13/V130/Latitude 13. What would be a comparable replacement then?

Under warranty. It was a similar situation to that of the E4300 forum member Sir Punk(?) recently had replaced (see if you can dig up the threads); the machine was physically damaged and replaced under Complete Care.

With the standard warranty, I think you need to have had the machine repaired at least three times before they'll give you a replacement.
